It all started with a statement, “The cake is a Lie.” I had to ponder this statement. Why is the cake a lie? What is so special about this lying cake? After pondering this and not finding out I decided I must go forth and play Portal.

First off I played the PC version of portal. With my PC being a bit older I didn’t get the nicest, smoothest graphics, besides the graph’s not being really smooth. I still got great game play. The fell and look of the game was very unique. I have never played any thing that looked or felt quite like it.

The game started out with you being a test subject in some sort of intelligence tests using portals. Eventually you get a portal gun on the ability to create portals anywhere. During the game you will be directed by a strange computer. Who promises you the reward of cake at the end of all the exercises. Besides the puzzles the computer chick totally makes the game. Computers say the darndest things! With your hand held portal gun you can create portals almost anywhere. The strange physics behind all this really can get you to think. There are many and I do mean many creative ways to finish some of these levels. At times traveling through portals can get quite disorienting and sometimes takes a bit of practice to pull off some of the cool tricks. Like beating a level with the least amount of steps or fastest times. Overall I have no complaints.

I loved this game and its ending is quite entertaining. It brought me back to a simpler time when games were a lot of fun, had a lot of replay value, and didn’t take nine hundred hours to beat. All you need to know is how to think with portals, the cake is a lie, and the companion cube is your friend.

I give this game: A++
